What I found out during this experiment was that my hypothesis was correct, the odor of the substances did diffuse across a room at different speeds. Deodorant spread faster than all the other substances- perfume, sunscreen, air freshener, and an orange. It took 6.46 seconds to diffuse 5ft and 42.46 seconds to travel 25ft through the air. All the other substances had more than 1 or 2 minutes to travel 25ft. The orange had the slowest times. At 5ft it took 12.66 seconds, which is double the deodorant's time, and at 25ft it took 2.54.72 minutes.
Some ways to have made this experiment better would be to spray each substance several times for each 5 feet and take the average second instead of spraying the substance only one time every 5 feet. I also could have not have sprayed the substance and just open the can and let it sit in a corner and time how long it takes for the scent to reach you. Another extension would be to spray the substance in a box and then open the box and let the scent spray. ( my 7th grade science fair conclusion)
