It would seem to me that the motor homes utilizing 1 ton full float axles from Toyota were carrying 4:88's in their pumpkin's. This would seem like a logical gear for heavy loads considering the power and gearing of the engine and transmission. However, this would not be a very logical mileage gear, but then you wouldn't be able to use higher gears with a load any how. if your truck is empty without eaxtra weight (under 4,500 gross vehicle weight all the time) then maybe you could get away with 4.56's and obtain better freeway mileage and performance. Just remember that those better freeway gears will really hurt perfomance when loaded.
