Yes and no. It's a 50/50 scenario.
Yes because they may have to claim benefits from the government to live on if they cannot legally be deported back to their own country (for example, it is illegal to deport a non-criminal immigrant who faces death or torture in their country of origin). This is due to their lack of experience working in modern cities and possibly due to language barriers.
No because immigrants are very useful for the workforce. They provide a means of hard-working people particularly in industrial and agricultural jobs, especially when able-bodies workers who were born in the country are low (as a result of men being called to war?).
Bear in mind - All Americans were once illegal immigrants. They settled in lands that belonged to someone else and took it for themselves.
