Because it's irrational. It goes on forever, the reason for this is that Pi is used to work out the circumference of a circle.

Circles don't have sides, so you can't times one by another to get the Area.

You have to use a number that goes on forever, because technically, a circle goes on forever.

Mathematicians wanted a number to work out circles. And after much calculation, they finally discovered an irrational number, Pi.
