The maximum length of trains that can operate on the network is

determined by physical limits such as the length of chord lines,

platform lines, loops and terminals.

The limits are set to ensure that trains do not impact on other

train movements or the performance of the network.

We work with operators to enable them to transport longer trains,

allowing them to provide services that allow them to transport more

commercially advantageous payloads. This may be possible through

implementing enhanced train plans which provide journeys that avoid

stops en route.
