Why did the neighbor children treated the Finch children unkindly in the book To Kill A Mockingbird?

because their father Atticus Finch agreed to support a black man called Tom Robinson who was wrongly accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Since the book was set in the years where there was a lot of racism across America they hated Jem and Scout because they thought Jem and Scout were supporting black people.
