Are high way men just men?

The term "highwaymen" historically refers to bandits or robbers who targeted travelers on roads, particularly in the 17th to 19th centuries. While the term originally implied male bandits, the concept of highway robbery is not limited to one gender; women and non-binary individuals can also engage in similar criminal activities. Thus, while the traditional image of a highwayman may evoke a male figure, the act itself is not confined to men alone.
