How do you calculate ton miles?

A unit of freight transportation equivalent to a ton of freight moved one mile.

Calculated by multiplying the cargo (load) in tons by the miles per gallon

example: a semi truck has a cargo of 30 tons and gets 8 miles per gallon

30 x 8 = 240 ton miles per gallon
