When there are disappointments in your life does it mean that something better is in store for you?

Sometimes, yes, that can be true. I'll give you an example:

A woman was passed over for a promotion at work. She was truly disappointed because she felt she deserved the job. A few months later, a newer, better position opened up in the company. She was eligible to apply for it, but a man (her only competition) who really wanted the job wasn't eligible to apply because he had recently taken the job the woman had been passed over for. Because it was company policy to remain in a new position for at least six months before applying for a new position, her competition was ineligible and the woman was hired for the enviable position!

Sometimes disappointments can be viewed as a road block to something that may look good, but may be bad for you, or keep you from something better in the long run. It takes maturity, experience and insight to accept and learn from disappointments when what you really want to do is throw a pity party. It also takes patience.
