'Anxious scrutiny' is an established doctrine, which brings a 'hard-look approach' to cases. It is a rigorous examination, used in cases which relate to the most fundamental human rights, for example, the right to life. When that decision may put the applicants life at risk, this calls for the most anxious scrutiny by the courts as a good justification needs to be made for the interference with those rights.
