Boys do have feelings, but when they are preteens or early teens they are just learning about themselves as far as who they are; what is expected of them and of course curious about sex. Often boys are afraid to show their feelings because they are too young to have built a strong self confidence level (that is a learning process as one ages) and instead of taking a chance such as admitting they like a certain girl they will often go to great lengths to perhaps call her names or be cruel to impress their male friends and this is done out of the fear that if that boy's male friends find out he likes a girl they will relentlessly tease him.
