If by that you mean "has aesthetics been valued in it's lowest meaning by this society for the past half a century" then I think that the answer is yes. And to elaborate on that further, beauty of the outside, I.e. Face, hair, and weight, has been overvalued; while beauty of the inside I.e. Virtue, integrity, honor, fidelity, has been shunted aside as no longer relevant to our fast paced, glitzy, glamorous, superficial lives. We have come to think that as long as you're considered beautiful by the world and the people that "matter" then everything that's worth having money, sex, and fame will be yours. But ultimately these things will fail you and leave you alone to think of the good old days when you were young and beautiful and ergo valuable to society, this way of thinking as already led to abortion and assisted suicide by a society that only values the young and beautiful. To me the true beauty is in a person who's is selfless, faithful, honest, and has an attention span of longer then 2 seconds for a conversation that isn't about who likes who in Hollywood or anywhere else.
