How do you set the timing on a 2.2L engine in a 1999 Chevy Cavalier?

Is is controlled by a computer. If you are having issues that seam like timing you should check the knock sensor. This will make it act like the timing is off. If it is acceleration then check the oxygen sensor or mass air flow sensor.
