Is a MRI of the whole body or just the head?

No, not usually but they can. Usually just a section of the body gets scanned and it takes a while to do that. The scans are loud and there is not much room inside of one. They don't want you to move either, it is a little like taking a time lapse photo, you move it gets blurred and the techs tell you to hold still.
