What is a good 6th grade science project?

Answer and prove the question: If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one or nothing there to hear it, does it make a noise?

You could do a project on DNA. What are some of the new things they can do now that they are able to manipulate different aspects of DNA. What have they been doing with the DNA in stem cell research. I heard they were just recently able to grow a tooth using the stem cells for teeth. Adults that loose teeth may soon be able to grow new ones now.

Prove that substance abuse (and that one time is abuse) can create permanent damage to the body, mind and spirit. There are many professionals that are more than willing to help you out.

Show how and why violence is passed down from generation to generation. You would need to also show how it can be stopped. Once again, you will find a lot of help out there for you.

The last two are related to Science, since they both affect the brain and the body and the human psyche. This is not too hard for a 6th grader and would almost guarantee a good grade if a thorough job is done. There is already gobs of studies, surveys, pictures and films on the subjects and police stations, health centers, dentists, psychologists, welfare departments and many other organizations would jump to help you.

It will probably be the most interesting, educational and memorable project you have ever done. You might want to have your parents look at the pictures and the films first to be sure it's not too much for you. If they can't then your teacher can help I'm sure.
