How long does it take to do a DBS check?

How long it takes for the applicant to complete the application form and for the registered body to countersign it is dependent on the applicant and registered body, respectively.

Once the application form has been completed and countersigned, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will aim to complete:

• 75% of applications within 14 days
• 90% within 28 days
• 99% within 60 days

Because enhanced DBS applications have to be processed by the relevant local police forces, they tend to take a little longer than standard DBS applications.
