If you get them done in the exact same place, you will be piercing through scar tissue. Scar tissue is tougher than normal tissue so it is a bit harder to pierce through. For those people that have very significant scar tissue, re-piercing is not possible. As for the pain, it may be a tiny bit more uncomfortable, but it is over in a matter of seconds. Good luck!
I'm in agreement, I had my ears pierced for three years, but took them out and let them grow back over the past four years. I just re-peirced them last night and am putting gauges in, and it's fine! It does hurt a little more then the original, but as the above person said, it will be over in a matter of seconds.
