Craftsman lt 1000 white smoke when blades engaged?

I think your talking about a lawn tractor? I have had this happen when the blades were prevented from rotating. You may want to check under the mower and see if there is anything wrapped around the center where the blades rotate or if the fan belt perhaps came off the pulleys and is preventing rotation.
