In order to go online on the PS3 system, you first need to have an internet resource; either an ethernet cable or a wireless router. Start the PS3 system and, after you log in, go to the settings tab. Scroll all the way down to " Network Settings". Press the "X" button. Scroll to the middle option, which should be something like "Network Connections", or "Connect to the Internet. Follow the on-screen steps and, "Presto", you are finished.
