What is the difference between immigrants and indentured servants?

Immigrants are individuals who move to a different country to settle there permanently. Indentured servants were people who signed a contract to work for a specified period of time in exchange for passage to a new country, often under exploitative conditions. While immigrants come by choice, many indentured servants were coerced or forced into their arrangements.
