How do you cure green water in your garden pond?

if you have a small pond like mine (mine is 300 gallons) you can filter the water through a uv light which kills bacteria and free-floating algae

i have a 20 watt uv light integrated into a bio filter which cost about a hundred dollars total. it has been a lifesaver!
