Why were midwives so important between 1750 and 1900?

Midwifes were important in the 1750's to the 1900's because they had better equipment and facilities to deliver women's babies.maternity beds were available so the woman could rest. woman then had more babies which increased the Birth Rate and decreased deaths because the woman didn't die of the pain or shock.
