Why is the screen black on my 37in magnavox 37MF337B when the sound works Is this a lot of money to fix?

It sounds like the problem a lot of the older models had. The only thing that would cause this is the picture tube is out and it would depend on the shop it's took too as to how much it would cost to fix it.
