Why is salt added to ice cream?

Why would you? I mean it's so disgusting! Only a weirdo would do that! It probably taste bitter and not so sweet. My advise DON'T DO IT!! :(

A pinch of salt in anything sweet makes it taste better. You don't taste the salt. But in the case of ice cream, salt is sprinkled over the ice in an old fashion ice cream freezer to make the ice colder and make the ice cream freeze faster. I can't explain how salt makes the ice colder but it does.
