How do you remove window handle to remove door panel on an echo 2004?

On My 2000 Echo, I was able remove the handle by taking needle-nose pliers and removing the crescent shaped pin that holds the plastic handle to the metal gear. It's difficult to see and even more difficult to remove, but after its off the handle just slips off. Good Luck.
