Why can't we remove graffiti using soap and water?

Graffiti is often made with permanent markers or spray paint, which are designed to adhere strongly to surfaces and resist water and common cleaning agents. Soap and water lack the necessary solvents or chemicals to break down the pigments and binding agents in these materials effectively. Additionally, certain surfaces, like porous brick or concrete, can absorb the paint, making it even harder to remove with just soap and water. Specialized graffiti removal products are usually required to effectively tackle the problem.
