I have a 'M' reg (1995?) Mercedes E280T estate. The blower stopped working. And after making numerous enq I was told that the Ballast resistor had burnt out. However my vehicle does not have one.The problem was the heater/blower motor. The carbon brushes had worn.My next problem was replacing the motor, how to get to it, and where is it located?Access to the motor is from under the bonnet, and is located beneath the leaf tray.1. Peel back the rubber surrounding the wiper, and renove the screws underneath it, (you do not have to remove each screw on far edges.2. Remove the rubber separating the leaf tray from the engine.3. remove 2 metal screws found on the tray lip between cowling and engine .4. Unscrew 2 large black flower shaped plastic screws found on the cowling separating engine and plastic tray.5. Unclip all plastic fixings and up and out comes the leaf tray.6. You can now see the motor.7. You will have to remove the windscreen wiper motor. It is held by 4 small bolts and 1 large one in the middle. The motor pulls out, there is no need to unwire it.8. remove 3 bolts holding the motor and out it comes.Should take about 3-4 hours to remove and replace.hope this helps somebody, I wish I had had this information.
