Why do people pray to Saint Andrew?

People pray the St Andrew Christmas Novena as a way to focus their mind and heart in the season of Advent. Saint Andrew was St. Peterâ??s brother, and one of Jesusâ?? first disciples. He was martyred on an X-shaped cross.
