What would happen if you used a wire screen instead of a paper filter to remove the dirt?

A wire screen would need to be very fine indeed to filter as efficiently as a paper filter. A wire screen is best at sieving out large particles using a medium mesh, or sieving out small particles with a fine screen. What would happen is that fine particles would get through the wire mesh and remain in the liquid.
