There are roughly 100,000 public schools in the United States, there's around 201,000 elementary schools in China, there's 23,529 public, independent, and special schools in the United Kingdom, and there's 1.3 million schools in India. While an exact answer isn't possible, by averaging the number of schools per capita in the US, UK, and India, a global estimate of 5-6 million public (elementary thru high school) schools world-wide would be appropriate.
