Some things to watch out for:

Filming through glass often causes a loss of contrast and clarity, so if possible, use an open window.

Helicopters go up a long way. Make sure that the camera is strapped to avoid dropping it. Dropping a camera from a helicopter does it no good at all and might give someone a really bad headache if it lands on them.

Distances are likely to be greater than usual so expect to be using the telephoto end of the zoom. This adds another problem of vibration. Helicopters suffer from vibration and ideally, a mechanical stabilizer should be used. Steadycam make a range of high end mounts but there are many others that will help to overcome the vibrations and assist with a stable image.

Finally, be nice to the pilot. A co-operative pilot can make the cameraman's job much easier by getting to the right positions. Upset the pilot and say goodbye to any worthwhile shots.
