How do you remove a stuck drive shaft from an old Johnson outboard?

I just ran into that same problem, after removing the lower unit on a 9.9 Johnson, the drive shaft stayed in place. The shaft turns fine like it should but felt like it was welded on the top. After much research I finally turned the power head upside down, heated the shaft with a torch, sprayed pb blaster down into the power head along the shaft, let it sit overnight, hooked the bugger up with the tank and hose, started it and wallah!! the shaft dropped out.
