Does lying hurt a person if they do not know they are being lied to?

If they do not know, but suspect, yes.

If they don't have a clue, then at the time of the lie, no.

However, liars have the bad habit of being found out or confessing eventually.

And of course the lie itself is false information and thus almost always harmful, possibly even deadly: "No, no cars from the right side."
