It is very tempting to see diversity management as an end in itself - it take very little imagination or skill to send out one's recruiters to find the required number of female, male, disabled, fat, jazz loving, single fathers etc etc to build a 'representative sample' of the population.
If you adopt the philosophy of doing the best for your owners and customers, you would create an environment in which you would as a matter of course hire, retain and promote the best people regardless of what ever pigeon holes they might otherwise fit
