Does the word distributor and supplier have the same meaning?

They have basically the same meaning, if you look in a dictionary their definitions are probably quite alike. In my opnion though I think a distributor would give something out to many different people and a supplier as giving something out to a less dense of people. Basically though I think they could be both used to express the same meaning and they are synonyms of each other.
