What is the law for dogs in front seat of car in California?

§ 27360 of California's Vehicle Code requires that children under the age of 8 must remain in the back seat and be restrained with an "appropriate child passenger restraint system." There are some exceptions: for children above a certain weight and height, if the car has no back seat, etc.
