Massage medium is a lubricant that allows the therapists hands to move freely over the clients skin. There are many different mediums that can be used, but the three most common are oils, creams, and powder.

Oils must be light and can be vegetable or plant origin. grapeseed oil, evening primrose oil, vegetable oil, almond oil. ( Note: You must make sure your client has no Allergies before using any oils ). Mineral oil like baby oil should not be used as they will dry the skin. Mineral oil is a petroleum product and should never be applied to anyone, not even babies. The name baby oil is misleading because it should never be used at all. If you want to appluy something to your infant, apply a good quality massage oil because they have natural ingredients.

Creams can be also be used but they absorb quickly and need to be reapplied more often than oils. Commercial creams or products are used.

Talc should never be used either. They contain minerals and chemical stabilizers that clog pores in the skin. A natural substitute is corn starch from the grocery store. It is an Excellent replacement for all the things talc is commonly used, even massage.

When doing a consultation before a massage you and your client will decided on what medium to use.
