Relative pronouns are pronouns that introduce a relative clause.
A relative pronoun "relates" to the Word that it modifies.
A relative clause gives additional information about the antecedent without starting another sentence.
The relative pronouns are: who, whom, whose, which, that.
Examples:
- My neighbor who has a garden gave me some fresh vegetables.
- A few people to whom we sent invitations have already responded.
- The man whose car I hit was very nice about it.
- His first movie which won the awardwas also his best movie.
- I like the one that comes in orange.
- The teacher who assigned the workshould answer your questions.
- The customer for whom we made the cake will pick it up at noon.
- My friend Mandy whose mom will pick us up said I'd be home by ten.
- The one which I prefer is the original.
- It's a myth that doesn't really hold up to scrutiny.
- There's a nice prize for the person whoscores the most points.
- I haven't met the young man with whomshe's attending the prom.
- This restaurant whose prices are so high has only fair service.
- You have first choice which is nice.
- The Smithsonian is one place that you should visit.
