Does a metal stud have holes?

Yes, almost all metal stud manufactures have pre-punched holes in studs at normal heights for wires and Plumbing. Beware building codes require that when a wire is put in the hole the hole must have a plastic grommet installed to protect the ware insulation from being cut.
