'Near of kin' meant any immediate family member:-

Lev 21:2 KJV But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for hismother, and for his father, and for his son, and for hisdaughter, and for hisbrother,

'Kin' meant any relation at all :- Lev 25:48-49 KJV After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him: [v. 49] Either hisuncle, or his uncle's son [ie cousin], may redeem him, or any that is nigh[near] of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; ...

Because the archaic Word 'kin' can be confusing, a modern translation which doesn't use the Word 'kin' or 'near of kin' clarifies the meaning:-Lev 25:48-49 NET after he has sold himself he retains a right of redemption. One of his brothers may redeem him, [v. 49] or his uncle or his cousin may redeem him, or anyone of the rest of his blood relatives - his family - may redeem him,...

In summary, a kinsman is any blood relative:they are not male only.

Members of one tribe and/or one religion. Kin is akin to the Word neighbour in The Bible especially in the Old Testament.

"Jacob fathered 12 sons. They are the ancestors of the tribes of Israel, and the ones for whom the tribes are named. Each occupied a separate territory"
