Given that there are different definitions of Public and Private schools, let's use this definition: Public means open to all students in a community and funded by the government entity. Private means they cna restrict as they desire and students that attend are either paying tuition or receiving scholarships. All statements are general and not necessarily applicable in all areas and places. If you are talking strictly about race and ethnicity, the public school is typically going to be more diverse. Some private schools for gifted students in music or whatever attract people from all over the world, and so they will be more diverse. If you are talking about other sorts of diversities, in personality, in talent, in learning styles, in levels of creativity, or in differences on the introvert to extrovert spectrum... probably about the same. But if the Private school has entrance criteria, you will typically find that they are smarter on average. In income levels, public school is normally going to be more diverse, but that various greatly based on the community. A school in a wealthy community may have all upper class students. They are also likely to be heavily centered on the types of people that live in a community. So the diversity in a public school is going to pretty much match that of the community it is in. In test scores, public schools are usually going to be much more diverse, a private school with strict entrance requirements is going to have a much smaller standard deviation.
