In our solar system, there are officially eight recognized planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. However, astronomers have discovered numerous other celestial bodies, such as dwarf planets (like Pluto) and various small objects in the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud. While the eight planets are the largest and most prominent, the total number of planetary bodies, including dwarf planets and potential undiscovered objects, could be much higher. Thus, while there are eight major planets, the overall count of planetary-like bodies is greater.
