Can breathing neon gas be fatal?

Neon (Ne) is an inert gas sometimes used in deep comercial diving but is very expensive. Like helium, it is less narcotic than nitrogen, but unlike helium, it does not distort the diver's voice. While neon is not toxic, it does no support life. Breathing pure neon with no oxygen for several minutes would be fatal.
