Why do you need organization in an essay?

Organization is essential in the writing of any essay. The thesis sentence should inform the reader of the points being covered and the purpose of the essay itself; whether it be for comparing, contrasting, informing, persuading, etc. Each paragraph in the body following should have a topic sentence related to one of the points indicated in the thesis sentence and be supported with sentences providing information focused on the one point.

The reason for this is so that the main focus of the paper be adhered to and does not wander into unrelated areas.

When completed, the properly organized essay can be concluded with one strong paragraph that summarizes the information given and pull everying together with an appeal or call for action. There will be no confusion as to what the author is attempting to inform the reader of and will provide satisfaction that the time spent reading the essay was well-worth the effort.
