Prayers and Ritual manipulation of spiritual powers in nature were the main part of the Washoe religion, and deemed essential for the sucess of any human endeavor. Natural events were thought to be from sentient spirit power. Spirits of the dead were feared, and there's little evidence of belief in a supreme being before the historic period.
