How does the sociological idea of ethnic groups differ from the biological idea of race?

The sociological idea of ethnic group refers to the cultural identity like language, customs or culture. Often refers to nationality like the person is American or something like that.

I think the biological is the physical characteristics like the skin color to define the race whether the person is black or white.
