This is somewhat distorted. The Revolution in France while i did get out of hand and evolve in terrorism, was not originally in any sense anti-clerical. The situation was entirely different in Revolutionary Russia,where the governemtn was manically anti-relgiious (Godless Communists!) was the call of the day and some of the anti-clerical angle may have been a legitimate backlash at (Clergy Gone bad) such as Rasputin. The Churchmen were always on the Law and Order side and could not approve of riots or terrorism which erupted in both Paris and Moscow.
