What happened on 8-6-1945?

In order to save hundreds of thousands soldiers lives which were predicted to be lost if a direct invasion of the Japanese mainland were carried-out,the U.S. dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. When Japan still refused to surrender,a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on 8/9/'45. Japan then surrendered.
