When is it time to put a bit on your horse?

There are differing opinions on this topic. Most people go with 2 years, as long as the bit is a broken snaffle with a thicker diameter. I never break my young horses until they turn 3 and will start them in a bozel and/or an eggbut snaffle with a larger diameter and hollow mouthpiece.
