Since all objects are absorbing energy from their surroundings why does not the temperature of all objects keep increasing continuously?

The temperature of an object will not continuously increase because it will reach a point where the rate of energy absorption from the surroundings is balanced by the rate of energy loss through radiation, conduction, or convection. Once this equilibrium is reached, the object's temperature will remain stable rather than continuously rising.
